A Europe of Tales forms a body of educational materials vividly presenting the respective legends as a result of collaboration between scholarship, art and technology. The programme will be translated into all the languages of the partner areas, including Breton and Gaelic.

This project supports both school and museum pedagogy, but in addition to the school and museum environments, the material is also available to individual users of the web.

Objectives

• to broaden and deepen the content provided on information networks
• to present the ethnic and myth-related past and world views of five marginal areas of Europe, and the factors that have helped shape these cultures
• to develop international cooperation among researchers, pedagogues and experts in modern technology
• to make the history of the emergence and development of European cultures a living and interesting part of the consciousness of future generations
• to improve knowledge of local cultural background in marginal areas and thereby to help strengthen local identity
• to promote the awareness and knowledge of producing new media among the cultural actors working for this project

Long-term objectives will be to develop a model for information-network cooperation, high-standard educational materials and a school network operating on the Internet and involving the partner countries. The pilot-school work of the project seeks to promote Internet-based cooperation among the schools of the partner countries.
