Guided tours

The Gallen-Kallela Museum has a museum-pedagogical programme of broad scope . Its particular asset is the museum’s unique location, inspiring visitors to experience, learn, consider and discover.

While placing emphasis on cooperation with schools, the museum also arranges workshops and special events for voluntarily participating children and adults.

The Gallen-Kallela Museum also takes into account marginal groups, such as immigrants, the disabled and persons undergoing mental health rehabilitation, and their views and experiences of the museum and its exhibitions are a valuable contribution.

The exhibition texts, information brochures, information posted on the walls and guided tours help the individual visitor gain information and have a meaningful visit. In addition, a wide range of material to serve immediate needs for knowledge can be found on the Museum’s web pages. Our staff will also be happy to answer any questions.

Visiting the museum individually or in groups

The visitor will benefit the most from an expert guide. The museum provides guided tours for individual visitors at 1 PM on Sundays. At other times, guided tours have to be arranged by appointment. It is always a good idea to ask the museum staff if there are any questions.

Group visits can be carried out in different ways. Depending on the size and members of the group, we can arrange workshops, guided theme tours or independent activities. Inquiries regarding space for delivering talks or for work in small groups can be directed to the museum staff.

Suggestions for visitors

The best benefit from a visit is gained by preparing for what one can see and experience. Preliminary information can be found on the museum’s web pages, for example at Exhibition-today. Questions can also be prepared in advance.

With groups of children it is best to repeat the principles of moving about in museums before setting out. Visitors walk in museums and it is strictly forbidden to touch works of art or old objects. The invaluable pieces can be damaged by the slightest touch.

Nice line!
