The exhibition presents Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish artist couples and their art from the turn of the century of 1900s, focusing on the interaction of two creative artists and how their profession was reflected in family life. It also raises the topic of the woman artist and her professional status and the contradictions a female artist would face when marrying an artist.
The artist couples of the exhibition operated in an interdisciplinary manner, being involved in the visual arts, applied art, sculpture, music, theatre and literature.
The exhibition is arranged in collaboration with Nordic art museums, researchers and art collections.
