The Gallen-Kallela Museum maintains two libraries, which are open to researchers by appointment.

The Akseli and Mary Gallen-Kallela library contains approximately 3,500 volumes owned by the artist’s family. This home library consists of periodical, art and scholarly literature, Finnish and foreign fiction, travel guides, exhibition catalogues and many other items.

The Akseli Gallen-Kallela Museum Foundation’s library contains a large body of literature on Akseli Gallen-Kallela and art of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition to published works, this library includes a large number of unpublished studies, manuscripts and academic theses.
