Artists’ book
The freelance artist Tatjana Bergelt lives and works in Finland since 18 years. She finished her masters of fine Arts at the University of Art and Design in Halle Burg Giebichenstein, Germany as well as at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaus Arts à Paris, France. Besides doing exhibitions in Finland and abroad, she has been producing artists’ books in small editions since 20 years, which are in various collections worldwide. At the event “taidelöyly” she presents her latest artists’ book “sauna soul”, printed by the artist in Helsinki as an edition of seven and presented at the International Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany.
It is not about the sauna as phenomena, rather about the feelings of pleasure and well being , even memories of smells and rituals from childhood. If there is one place where man and woman, child and elder, important and average person are equal to one another and before dead – it is in sauna. The soft warm book cover spreads the smell of tar, the first reminder of the mother of all saunas the smoke sauna.
